Freshman year was the first year I began experimenting with actual design work. Although I had previously dabbled in reconstructing garments to create new clothing for myself, I had never worked with patterns or made a full garment by hand. This year, I did a lot of industrial pattern work, tweaking the designs minimally to create pieces that felt more personal. I still had a lot left to learn, so many of them don't hold up as well today, but I enjoy getting to look back and see how passionate I was about making clothing even before I knew how to.
